Why is Vagina Tightening Needed?

It cannot be said that all HPV types are clinically important. There are more than 100 known types of HPV. However, only certain types among them can cause cervical cancer. These types, which are the most cancer-producing ones, are divided into two groups of High-Risk and Low-Risk types.

The test performed to identify around 20 high-risk and low-risk types, which have the potential to cause cancer, is called the HPV DNA Genotyping Test. With this test, the sample taken from the cervix is subjected to the HPV-DNA Genotyping test, and the 21 high and low-risk types of HPV, which are important in terms of the risk of cervical cancer, are identified one by one, and each risk is also quantified.

The Most Reliable Result for HPV Test

The Most Reliable Result for HPV Test

All HPV screening kits available in the market cannot be said to be sufficient for reliably providing the necessary diagnosis. This is because the number of types scanned using these kits vary. Some of them scan only Type-16 and Type-18 while some others scan Type-6, 11, 16, 18, or Type 9 or Type 14. Therefore, screening tests can only detect the types they scan. If there is a positivity other than the type they scan, they cannot detect that type, so the results of these test are not reliable.

A reliable test should screen for at least about 14 high-risk types. Favorably, a reliable test should screen for 20 to 21 identified high-risk and low-risk types. The most reliable result can be achieved by determining the genotypes one by one and even quantifying each genotype numerically. The HPV genotyping test determines whether any of the 21 high or low-risk types exists, and also quantifies each type. In this way, it provides the most reliable results in the diagnosis and follow-up of HPV.

What does testing positive for HPV mean?

What does testing positive for HPV mean?

Being tested positive for HPV does not mean that the patient has cancer. Sometimes people experience stress due to the fear of cancer unnecessarily, due to the lack of adequate knowledge on this subject. In fact, even if the test result is positive, it should be checked for which types of HPV the screening result is positive and further examinations should be requested if necessary, and the treatment procedure should be determined accordingly.

In case of HPV test positivity, we can easily perform colposcopic examination and, if necessary, take a sample in a doctor's office setting, and send it for pathologic evaluation. The patient may feel some pain due to the discomfort caused by this procedure, but this pain is usually tolerable.

In patients found to have abnormality as a result of pathological evaluation, the abnormal region removed with wider margins. All these cervical cancer screening tests and diagnosis and treatment of problematic and abnormal conditions make it possible to successfully treat cancer and precancerous lesions caused by HPV, and prevent the progression to cancer.
